EXCURSION
Getaway inspired every-daywear, for the city girl who wants to reconnect with nature (through her clothing.)
RESORT, LIKE YOU’ve never seen it.
For the beach, or her big city life. Excursion revolutionizes resort with elevated basics inspired by her favorite getaway. Wearable, versatile, for so much more than vacation. Excursion was designed to make emotional pieces that the consumer will connect with.
NOSTALGIA DrIVEN
One of the initial ideas for this project came from the 2006 film “Aquamarine.” There is a scene in which Aquamarine, the mermaid turned human girl, turns a simple long sleeve t-shirt into a haltar dress just by tying it up. This particular scene had a large impact on middle school girls everywhere. (Or maybe just the designer of this collection.) This capsule takes inspiration from that scene in the way it experiments with draping and tying fabric in order to create something completely new. It also plays on elements that were key to any 2000s vacation- think tacky souvenir shop shorts and airbrush tattoos - in a subtle way.
INSPIRATION AS UNIQUE AS HER
At the heart of an “heirloom piece” is something to make it special. A key pillar of this collection’s inspiration is drawn from seashells. A seashell collector loves the nuances of each shell, no two the same. Many seashells were collected in the process of this project, their similarities and differences influencing designs. Inspiration was also derived from other found objects on the beach i.e. clam shells, oysters, a pearl. Excursion’s customer is a collector, searching for pieces she’ll wear again and again.
LEISURE FORWARD
Embedded in “Excursion” is her current idea of a getaway. This collection is meant to evoke escapism by taking inspiration from a beach vacation. Each piece is the feeling of ocean waves and salty skin realized. It ties in swimwear elements reminiscent of her favorite bikini. Carefully chosen fabrics simulate the luxury of crisp resort sheets and white poolside towels.
